Busy Friday explorations! We made rainbow butterflies at art. On our walk we collected hundreds of dandelions! Also couldn't pass by the water tower without calling out in the drain tube. It makes a great echo. Sand volcano in the sand box. And a tea party in the shade. Claire was sleepy from her mid night party time so she was resting.

I was told to record some days and times for my next appointments to see my "doctors." Dr. Luke, Dr. Theo, Dr. Asher and Dr. Gabriella took good care of me. Hair stylist Wesley decided I needed a fresh style as well. It's so interesting when current events are what dictates children's play. We are talking immunizations and they are listening. This is play-based learning at its best. We are talking about what's happening, acting it out, and learning letters, numbers and time along the way. A few days ago, Gabriella looked at me and asked "Shannon where do you go to sleep at night?" It's funny she has been coming to my home her whole life but didn't realize I have a bedroom upstairs that I sleep in. So today we took a field trip upstairs to see all of the bedrooms. And guess what was their favorite? Brewers dog crate in my bedroom! Friends helping friends! Lily loves the rocking horse and was so gentle in helping Claire rock as well.
Lily has always enjoyed being a helper. She loves when I send her on a mission to deliver a bottle to Deb for our baby. She loves throwing things away for us.
When I see kiddos that have graduated from our program years ago, one of the first thing many ask is "do you still hatch chicks?" It is one of the most memorable things that we do. The eggs we got three weeks ago have been incubating. They are supposed to hatch at day 21. Well, our crew this year decided day 19 sounded pretty good. So we had a lot of babies born this weekend to greet the children today.
Today is also Earth Day. We did our annual walk around the marsh to pick up garbage and we found a lot!
Patterning with colors and shapes on the vertical pole! This was challenging because the children were matching a 3-D shape to a 2-D picture on the board behind the pole. They work is on looking at the details and noticing edges, not just colors. Out for a walk to supervise some earth moving.
This years WOYC celebration has been my favorite to date. There is something about Spring, excited children and emerging from a pandemic that has just lifted my spirit. I'm so thankful for these littles that make each day so bright. We celebrated Family Friday with a sharing of our favorite parts of the week. We blew bubbles and planted some herbs and sugar snap peas. Please remember that tonight there are family activities that you can complete if looking for some things to do. I love hearing Todd Parr read! Here is the link:
https://wisconsinearlychildhood.org/get-involved/week-of-the-young-child/ This morning we watched the author Mo Willems as he taught us now to create some art. We used tape and markers to create our beautiful pictures! We used our "buses" throughout the day. But we always remembered to not let the pigeon drive the bus! Also Super Heroes!!!

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
