![]() Do you see all of the smiles on the kiddo's faces?? No?? That's because this is what we saw most of the day! We worked together to build our fort city in our environment. All of our stuffies lived under there as well. It was a hit! Even baby Claire joined right in! We have one friend who begins soccer practice tonight but is pretty nervous. So, we all got balls and started our own daycare soccer team! We worked on dribbling and passing. Then we practiced scoring and celebrating!

Thanks to our families for bringing in vegetables and seasonings for us to cook with. The children were so engaged and excited about cutting and adding the food to our bowl of ingredients. Many commented on how yummy it smelled when we came inside. All of the children tried the soup even after initial hesitation. We met the author Cathryn Fallwel on Zoom this morning. She read us some of her books including Feast For 10. We talked about our favorite vegetables and drew pictures of them to show her.
The Week of the Young Child® is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 members and a network of 51 Affiliates. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child® is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Today we celebrated Music Monday by having hat day and dancing to some Ella Jenkins. The children each added songs to our playlist and we danced the morning away. We also made our own tambourines to use in creating music. ![]() We checked out all of the beautiful colors of the eggs from the farm. The children held the eggs and described how they felt fresh out of the fridge. "Cold, wet, smooth, pointy!"
It was too beautiful not to locate some suits and clean out the pools! Warm water in one and cold water in the other.
We had such a fun time at Jenny's farm! We saw goats and chickens. They were adorable. Our eggs are safely incubating upstairs. We should see some cracks starting on April 26th! We were out walking and were surprised to see two cranes crossing the street by our house! We followed them to the marsh across from the school and watched them check on their nest. They had to chase a couple of ducks away.
We pick up our annual chicken eggs to hatch this evening. We did some research today to learn about the process of growing into a chick and the parts of the egg to feed and protect the chick. Then we documented our learning. "Hug baby!" -Lily First day with the hose on!

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
