The school had some plows come to move snow in anticipation of more snow this weekend. The piles they left were huge so we had to try them.

Yesterday there was a conversation about what Deb’s favorite food is and if she was going to have it for her birthday. She shared that lobster is her favorite. So this morning she came in with a bag of empty lobster tails from dinner to show the children so they could have hands on experience with what the shell feels like. “Is this how we do it?” -Lily
We started the day with a little yoga stretching. Heart glasses on means we are seeing the best. If we have a friend or person who is doing something that doesn’t feel good to us, we put on our glasses to see the best and talk about what we can do to help that person out. Perhaps if a person bumps into us we can kindly remind them to “please be careful. That bump didn’t feel good to me.”
It was an unusual but wonderful day. These images of the the switching of an administration were on throughout the morning to allow the children to witness and ask questions about the process. Some drifted to and from during their play to observe. Regardless of what they know or don’t know they were able to see strong, diverse leaders and speakers. Amanda Gorman, The Hills We Climb, an excerpt: “We will not march back to what was, but move to what shall be a country that is bruised, but whole, benevolent, but bold, fierce, and free. We will not be turned around or interrupted by intimidation because we know our inaction and inertia will be the inheritance of the next generation. Our blunders become their burdens. But one thing is certain, if we merge mercy with might and might with right, then love becomes our legacy and change our children’s birthright.” Exploring ramps.
Our Amaryllis has made it to 42 cubes tall and opened to show us it’s beautiful red flowers. It was 32 cubes last time we measured so we know it grew 10 cubes! We have been waiting for some sticky snow to build our new fort!
We got to visit with Ms. Leah this morning. She had a live story time about snow plows followed by a tour of a snow plow at the Verona Public Works Department. It was cool to learn about a wing plow and see what the salt looks like in the back. Brother sister dance. Practicing making letters in the sand.
Miss Lily tries to do it all just like the big kids. Today there was a moment where the fire truck was empty so she slipped in.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
