It was a cooking kinda day! Notice the "recipe" cards they were recreating. Hudson had to gas up his truck.

This morning we took a trip out to pick up our first CSA items. We chose strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, and a muskmelon. Then we took a walk over to the petting farm. Wow was that amazing! We were one of only a few families there and the animals came running over to us for some snacks. We even fed the baby goats some milk out of bottles. Check out the size of the catfish that we fed! There was a large pretend cow that could be milked as well. Lunch was BLT's and a salad. Fresh produce is the best!
As more of our summer equipment is making it out, we have lots of experimenting happening. Today a baster was very intriguing. It takes a lot of coordination to squeeze when you want to suck up the water and squeeze when you want to spray it out. Our water pumps were very busy filling watering cans for different projects as well.
The Dragonfly T-ball team started practice today! We worked on hitting and running bases. Everyone got in on the game at some point, even those that have to wait a few years to officially play.
This is our group time yesterday actually. Everyone was engaged and involved in singing one of our favorite songs. We are soaking up our last few days of having our whole group together. Summer is here and our teacher parents are getting ready for some well deserved time home with their kiddos. Our group shrinks a bit and our schedule slows down. We start to prepare for the transition of our oldest kids leaving. These children love each other so much and spend their days being creative, imaginative and involved with one another.
I loved hearing the science experiments that were happening as we indulged in exploring some awesome puddles! In addition to testing hands for if they float, they tested rocks and grass. They explored different types of splashes and how wet each made them. They explored trying to get water in the sewer grates when the road still has just its sub grade asphalt and didn't quite make it over the cement curb line. Those that didn't want to get wet at first, ended up completely soaked and giggling with the others.
Pick a bean bag, sound out the word for the picture, decide on the starting sound and letter and then make then letter on our magnet board.
These boards are an easy way to incorporate math and counting into any until! Recycled foam trays with numbers and counting circles help the children with one-to-one correspondence and throwing in the use of chop sticks to put our seeds on the trays strengthens our fine motor skills. We had some awesome new stampers arrive yesterday. We can stamp out our own road configurations to add to car play.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
