Today is a day we knew was coming but it's always so hard to say good-bye to a friend. Good-bye Josie monkey and good luck with your new adventures at Honeybees! You will be missed.

Unifix cubes are a fabulous way to help children with their patterning skills. They are all equal sizes and can be set out individually or stacked up to make a long line. The children set them out on their papers then told me about their pattern. Some used two colors, some more. Some just worked on manipulating them and setting them one to a box.
We were super excited to have Henry and Lucy back again from their long vacation! There were lots of hugs and giggles as everyone arrived. The highlight of Henry's trip was the airplane! We heard lots of stories of their adventures.
This photo makes me giggle. As we were reading Harlow was so excited to make her way in to the couch to join the others. These three had a plan. They were going to go look for bears to catch for the zoo. They told me they needed clip boards to take notes. One drew a picture of a bear, one drew the cave the bear was living in and one drew the word BEAR. They were successful in their capture and delivered the bears to the zoo!
We welcomed our friend Wesley for a part-day practice session! He did so great! The children were so excited to see him and learn about him. He is already so loved. Wesley will join us for part days the week after Labor Day and full-time the following week. Welcome buddy!
Check out our sweet Harlow signing "more" at breakfast today! It was a great morning for puddle jumping and rain walking.
This morning we read a book by Cathryn Falwell called Scoot! It was a Beautiful book about lots of different animals out in the wild. We were very curious about how Cathryn made this book. We read the back and learned that she made it out of paper that she had ripped out and arranged on each page. So we decided that we would give it a try on her own! Many of the children stuck with the nature theme and created images out of ripped paper. They were very beautiful! We dug out our walker for Harlow to try. She loved it!!
Harlow is learning that if she crawls over to the garden, her friends are happy to fill her a bowl of raspberries to eat. Yummy!
Friends were working together to get our wood cookies in alphabetical order. |
Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
