This was our last day with these two! We had lots of laughs and silliness as we did all of their favorites. Including whipped cream on our strawberries, and in our mouths! It's never "good bye" but rather "until we see you again! "

We celebrated our two graduates tonight! These two are self declared "best buddies ever!" and will be missed.
After two hours in the water I asked if they were ready to come in for lunch. "No! Let's have a picnic in our swimsuits!" That sounds absolutely amazing.
All four of our butterflies have emerged from their chrysalis' and it was time to set them free! First we added our last drawings to our journals to document what they looked like. As we took their cage outside they began trying out their wings. When we unzipped the top they knew what to do and flew right out and away.
Wowza that was quite the storm last night! The children shared their experiences for probably the first two hours this morning. There were feeling of being scared, sad, safe, loved and now today, tired. We went out to explore and check on our bird friends to see how they did in the storm. It was a beautiful morning and it felt good to run and roll. Although storms can be scary, the next morning can bring some beautiful experiences of discovery.
We also found our first painted lady butterfly has emerged! This was amazing! It really happened right in our school. When Mr. Rob let us know there was a zoo at the school at first we were very surprised, then we were very excited! Of course we invited ourselves right over to check it out. When we returned, we were greeted by our toad friend hopping in the grass. So exciting!
We checked on the status of our Painted Lady caterpillars and 2 of the 4 have completed their chrysallis' and 2 are hanging like a "J" from the top of the cup. We journaled about what we saw and also revisited the order of their life cycle to anticipate what is going to happen next.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
