Beckett shared a book with our group today that taught us about how people discovered dinosaurs and what Paleontologists do. So naturally we needed to be Paleontologists as well. We found a bag of dino bones and hid them in our sandbox so we could dig and brush them out.

These three big friends now love to spin together on the swing. Today Eli was not on board so Claire called for him to come and "sit" so they could all be together.
It's too nice out to go in for lunch, so we brought it out. This is one of our favorite parts of the summer!
We discovered the most beautiful flowering crab apple tree on our walk. We could stand underneath it and have flowers petals fall on our head. We noticed piles of the petals on the ground and filled our hands with them. Then, on the count of 3 we threw them into the air so they would fall on us like rain.
It's pretty easy to tell that this guy is happy to be back with his buddies! Ellie worked with so much detail on constructing flowers. We read that flowers can grow from bulbs and also from seeds.
Learning through collaboration and hands on activities was engaging today. Theo and Stanley especially wanted more! They asked for a dino puzzle to solve. So we found a size sorting activity. We also worked on sequencing how to grow a vegetable seed. And Lily worked on words that rhyme.
In this activity the children had flower mats and identified numbers and colors to know how to construct their towers out of cubes. Some chose to just build on their own. The children had collected rocks on our walk. We sat down to rest and watch an excavator. I heard Stanley say "Let's pretend our rocks have arms and legs and talk to each other." They then proceeded to have a conversation where all of the rocks were greeting each other and walking around. So much creativity.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
