Circle time is way more fun when you have a guest. Meet our puppet Sadie. Harlow playing a kazoo for Wesley!
I spent my weekend at a friends workshop building some new experiences for the children. Here are a couple pictures of them exploring these new things. One Item is at weaving loom where children can sit on opposite sides and pass strings, ribbons and other materials back-and-forth to create a beautiful pattern! The other item is something called a busy board. There are lots of buttons, levers, hooks, and locks to open and close and see what they do. it is the season of Halloween and the children have been seeing lots of skeletons! I've been answering lots of questions about our skeletons and bones and why we have them. Today we took a look at some animal skeletons and animal images to go with them. The children enjoyed seeing the different shapes of the skeletons and imagining these animals having them inside. This is kind of a silly picture of the children playing a yoga game together. They spin the spinner and find out what color card they need to draw. Then they need to perform the yoga move that is on the card in order to earn it. This one is called the waterfall!
For this game, the children take turns rolling a die (some are standard, some go as high as 12 or more!). Then the children count out that number of ghosts to stick in their dough. Then we squish it all and start again. Not only are we working on number identification and counting, we are integrating our sense of touch (squishing) to reset and begin again. Great for kiddos that have a hard time sitting still!!
We have an annual Fall tradition where we gather corn from the farm field behind my house. We bring it all back and take it off of the cob to add to our sensory table. It provides lots of opportunities for scooping and the children also love to get the tractors in the table and makes roads and piles.
Upon inspection of the two leaves that Ayden found, he declared "one is long and one is short!" Piper wanted to photo bomb and giggled when I told her she was successful. Busy writers. Practicing our crayon grips.
PLEASE NOTE. BECAUSE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS FALL ON WEEKENDS THIS YEAR OUR HOLIDAY CALENDAR HAS BEEN UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE 23RD OF DECEMBER AND THE 2ND TO JANUARY. it wa a perfect Fall day! The sun was shining and it was not too cold. We went on a walk to explore a new park. I've lived in Verona my entire life and have never been to it! Along the way we found some fabulous leaf to try out. We were able to find the park and discovered it had lots of antique equipment that was so fun including a merry-go-round. The children loved it! Peek-a-boo with Harlow! Wesley smiling for his buddies!

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
