While we were having water day outside, Henry told me he had something to show me. He brought me to the edge of the yard and showed me this little fella. Amazing!

On our way to "supervise" the roof installation down the block. Lucy discovered the band-aids I put in our doctor tools.
Owen was so excited to have a captive audience when doing a slime tutorial. The children were giddy with excitement!
What a night! The children were telling me about their evenings and the rain and wind that prompted a tornado warning. Ada told me they had to go to their basement and open presents! Way more fun then what we did at my house. We felt sorry for Deb. She ended up with a tree on her house! She couldn't make it in today. But they will fix her house up soon! Thanks to everyone for being flexible. There are definitely times when the universe throws us a challenge, but with so many wonderful families we are always able to make things work out. I love our little village!
The next picture is from our adventure to the pond. It was so super full and more water was flowing in. The children are a bit concerned about the crossing guard shack. It was blown over. We are hoping they will get it upright again soon. This morning we read one of our Shubert books about seeing things in a different way. What this meant was when friends are having a tough time or are not being very kind to us, then we need to put on our heart mask and take a look at what may be the problem. One example in the book was a friend who would just constantly talk over others and it was frustrating for the class. When Shubert looked through the heart glasses (we made masks) he thought that perhaps that friend needed to be reminded that it was important to raise your hand when you have something to say in their group. That way all friends would be heard. Then Shubert used his words to help that friend learn what to do.
Wesley has become quite the entertainer! He sat in his chair after lunch playing peeks with his friends for as long as they would keep laughing at him. Rolling and writing. Practicing those numbers by rolling a dice, counting how many dots, and writing the number.
The children have been so busy performing puppet shows this week. We have worked on creating stories and characters to go with the stories. We have learned to perform with friends.
Today we learned what a ventriloquist does and how amazing it is to speak for a puppet without moving your mouth. I introduced the children to some of my favorite puppets and showed how we too can speak for the puppets. Then we had a hilarious time practicing and performing for each other. |
Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
