We began some work on measuring today and what different types of measurements we use. We talked about how tall something is, how heavy, how much we need of something for cooking, how hot or cold something is. Today we worked on measuring how long something is using our cubes. We started out small and then the children gradually worked into measuring how many cubes tall each other is. ![]() Bells at circle time.

This new-to-us monkey game was a hit! When the monkey is turned on, you take it and hide it. Then, the stick that Eli is holding is also turned on and you walk around the room holding it up to locate the monkey. The more lights, the closer you are. Once it starts beeping, you are within a few feet of the monkey. We played this for over an hour this morning!
Lily has been talking about wanting to go sledding. i told her we didn't have an enough snow yet but she showed me that she could make it work.
There were some new beautiful colors to explore in our small light table today. Community helpers BINGO before nap time.
We welcomed Layla for her first 1/2 day today. She has many new friends who want to play with her and teach her all about our school.
Every time we get out the shop vac that blows air, our long tube and plastic ball pit balls the children are thrilled. They come up with some amazing ideas on how to use air to move the balls through different obstacles. First we explore the air and how it makes us feel. It blows our hair and our clothes. It definitely can move the balls by themselves. Then we add the balls to the tube and guess what will happen with the air. Once we observed the balls coming out the other side, then we started adding different challenges to see if the balls would still come through. Additionally we we collecting balls of the same color and counting how many each child could carry back. This open-ended opportunity made us giggle but also helped us be scientists creating hypotheses and testing the to see if they worked!
There were all sorts of puppies that joined us for circle time today! So many giggles as they conquered the rock wall today! A picnic in mid November.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
