Well, I guess this years hatching is a good lesson in how nature has a mind of it's own. Our eggs that we have been incubating for the last 21 days have not shown any signs of hatching. So... we pivoted and my friend brought us 8 chicks! We are already so in love with watching them and naming them. They are pretty tired today and would just fall over sleeping. We are practicing petting them using one finger to make sure they are safe.

There is so much anticipation as we await our chicks hatching next week! We can see them moving in their shells. We explored an ostrich and emu egg today and described the difference in size, color and texture compared to the chickens. We also watched chickens, ostriches, turtles, snakes, lizards, and caterpillars hatch from their eggs. ![]() We noticed lots of bird buddies outside this morning looking pretty hungry. The snow makes it hard to find food! We put out a few extra plates of seed to help them out.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
