Well this was exciting! The snow plow was out cleaning up some snow and dropping salt. Usually we don't get to see them during the day! Harlow worked hard walking through the snow outside and trying to stay upright on the ice. She couldn't make it through lunch afterward. Here is an excellent activity for number recognition. Color by number pictures have the children locate numbers that could be colored the suggested color. These three were very involved and interested in these new pictures.

Today we started an Amaryllis bulb in some soil. We covered up the roots and bulb with the stem just peeking out of the dirt. We measured and charted that from the table to the top of the stem, it was 8 cubes tall. We will continue to observe, measure and chart this plant as it grows and see how big it will get.
We began using a new learning tool called Osmo. It's an interactive program that uses our ipad to help us learn shapes, letters, phonics, numbers, quantities, coding, drawing, and a lot more. We have just started exploring all we can do but so far it has been a hit!! They use this to in public schools as well.
Below zero wind chills for the second day means we need to get our wiggles out! Obstacle course day it is!
Check out this fine motor activity! We took out a bin of all different sized nuts and bolts and worked on trying to find out which ones would go together. Those little fingers were busy spinning the nuts and seeing how many could fit on the longest bolts.
The children were so excited to be back together! They just ran around giggling and talking all day! There were so many stories about people that were seen, presents that were opened and yummy food that was eaten. It's amazing hearing the stories through the eyes of a child! We checked out the snow mountain! It's still pretty large even with all of the melting.

Shannon Davis- Family Child Care provider"Family child care is not babysitting. It's not comparable to any child care center. It's families, in relationships with a professional care provider in an environment that becomes, by design, a second home and a whole bunch of people partnering, trusting, caring and educating each other."
